Every two years, CNES produces a report to COSPAR.
What is COSPAR?
The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), headquartered in Paris, is an international scientific group that organizes science research related to space exploration. It was created in 1958 by the International Council for Scientific Unions (ICSU) for the International Geophysical Year (IGY).
COSPAR’s purpose is “to promote at an international level scientific research in space, with emphasis on the exchange of results, information and opinions, and to provide a forum, open to all scientists, for the discussion of problems that may affect scientific space research.” In addition to its specialist commission and panel sessions, COSPAR organizes a General Assembly every two years.
France’s report to COSPAR, coordinated by CNES, reviews space science activities of the previous two years, charting progress of space projects in operation and in development to which the French space community is contributing.
The report also details recent programmatic developments guiding future missions with our main European and international partners. It is aimed at scientists from all nations attending the COSPAR General Assembly.
2026 COSPAR
The 46th General Assembly of COSPAR will hold from 1st to 9 July 2022 in Florence, Italy. France’s report on this occasion can be viewed on line.
