  4. CNES celebrates 10th edition of French Excellence awards

    The 10th French Excellence awards ceremony was held on Thursday 5 December at the Austerlitz Auditorium of the Hôtel National des Invalides, in the presence of its President Maurice Tasler and CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall. CNES, a laureate in 2014 and 2017, celebrated this 10th anniversary with the presentation of its film CNES serving French Excellence.

  5. PEPS and Sentinel-2 bring new perspectives

    The Copernicus programme is pursuing its deployment. After the launch of Sentinel-1A on 3 April 2014 by Soyuz from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Sentinel-2A, orbited on 23 June 2015 by Vega, also from the CSG, is now operational. For CNES’s Sentinel Product Exploitation Platform (PEPS), this signals the start of a new stream of data for Copernicus users.

    Wednesday 30 January, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall spoke at the French-Russian seminar organized by GIFAS, the French aerospace industries association, at the Espace Hamelin in Paris, where he kicked off the round table session on ‘The stakes of French-Russian space cooperation’ in the presence of Oleg Frolov, Deputy Director General of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, and Nicolas Chamussy, Chair of GIFAS’s Space Commission. This seminar comes under the umbrella of the Russian space industry’s mission in France.

    Wednesday 19 July, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall visited the ESA and GIFAS stands at the MAKS international air show in Moscow, where he also met his counterpart Igor Komarov, Head of Roscosmos, the Russian federal space agency. The two agency heads took the opportunity to review joint work undertaken in 2016, a year marked by the 50th anniversary of French-Russian space cooperation, as well as prospects for closer cooperation driven by the new political dynamic between France and Russia.

  17. Europe’s launchers sector gears up to boost competitiveness

    CNES has sold its almost 35% stake in Arianespace to Airbus Safran Launchers, in line with decisions reached at the last ministerial council meeting of the European Space Agency (ESA) at the end of 2014. The new ownership structure has been crafted in response to the request from the agency’s member states to reorganize Europe’s launcher sector in order to make it more competitive.

  19. CNES opens access to Copernicus satellite data through PEPS platform

    With its unique fleet of six families of dedicated Sentinel satellites and payloads on Eumetsat satellites, Copernicus is set to generate a wealth of very-high-quality data with unequalled spatial and temporal coverage. To meet France’s needs, CNES is offering free access to these data via its Sentinel Product Exploitation Platform (PEPS).
