    Parasol completed its 6th year in orbit on 18 December 2010. This mission to observe clouds and aerosols in Earth’s atmosphere has been a great a success for CNES, which is now considering extending it.

  15. Parasol captures first pictures

    In orbit since 18 December 2004, the Parasol microsatellite acquired its first pictures on 7 January 2005. Parasol is set to help scientists gain a better understanding of the physical and micro-physical properties of clouds and aerosols. These first images also confirmed that the satellite, its payload and associated ground facilities are all working well.

    Les 1ères images produites par le microsatellite Parasol, en orbite depuis le 18 décembre dernier, ont été acquises le 7 janvier. Parasol fournira ainsi aux scientifiques des éléments pour mieux appréhender les caractéristiques physiques et micro-physiques des nuages et aérosols. Ces images valident en outre le bon fonctionnement du satellite, de sa charge utile et des moyens au sol.
