      Thursday 16 January, Ariane 5 completed a flawless launch from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Europe’s spaceport in Kourou, orbiting two telecommunications satellites: EUTELSAT KONNECT, built by prime contractor Thales Alenia Space for Eutelsat, and GSAT-30, designed and built by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The launch was Ariane 5’s 107th flight, its first mission in 2020 and the first of the year from the CSG. It was also the 251st flight in the Ariane series.

      Tuesday 26 November, Ariane 5 completed a flawless launch from Europe’s spaceport at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), placing into orbit two telecommunications satellites: TIBA-1, developed by Thales Alenia Space and Airbus Defence & Space for the Egyptian government, and GX5, built by Thales Alenia Space for Inmarsat. The launch was the eighth of the year from the CSG, the fourth mission in 2019 for Ariane 5 and the 250th flight in the Ariane series.

      Monday 9 April in Kourou, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall led the ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first launch from the Guiana Space Centre. It was on 9 April 1968 that the Véronique sounding rocket, France’s first launcher, soared skywards from Europe’s spaceport. The pioneers of this great adventure and several former directors of the space centre were present at today’s event.

The launch was Ariane 5’s 105th flight, its third in 2019 and the seventh of the year from the CSG.

      Wednesday 27 February, Soyuz accomplished a flawless launch from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Europe’s spaceport in Kourou, placing the first six satellites in the OneWeb constellation (OneWeb F6) on behalf of global internet provider OneWeb.     14. Ariane 5 completes 102nd successful launch- GSAT-11 and GEO-KOMPSAT-2A in orbit

      Tuesday 4 December, Ariane 5 completed a flawless launch from Europe’s spaceport at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), placing the GSAT-11 satellite for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and GEO-KOMPSAT-2A for the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) into geostationary orbit. The launch marked Ariane 5’s 102nd flight, its sixth in 2018 and the tenth of the year from the CSG.

    16. Ariane 6 launch table in position at the Guiana Space Centre on ELA4 launch pad

      As the agency overseeing construction of the Ariane 6 launch pad at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), CNES has selected German firm MT Aerospace based in Augsburg to build the launch table for the vehicle as well as the umbilical mast to support the cryogenic arms.
