    Tuesday 24 May, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in Rabat at the invitation of Abdellatif Loudiyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for the administration of National Defence, whose remit covers space affairs. The meeting, also attended by Zakaria Moudden, Director of the Royal Centre for Space Studies and Research (CRERS), and Driss El Hadani, Director of the Royal Centre for Remote Sensing (CRTS), reviewed progress on the framework agreement signed on 28 May 2015 in Paris and implementation of the New Delhi Declaration ahead of the COP22 to be held in November in Marrakesh.

    In Gabon’s pavilion at the COP21 climate conference, in the presence of Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign and French-speaking Affairs and Regional Integration, and Flore Mistoul Yame, Minister for the Protection of the Environment and Forest and Maritime Ressources, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Tanguy Gahouma Bekale, Director General of AGEOS, the Gabonese space agency, signed a framework agreement at Le Bourget to step up space cooperation between France and Gabon.

  4. COP21 gets underway- CNES at the core of the space agenda

    At the COP21 climate conference opening today in Paris, 196 delegations will be working towards a historic agreement. For CNES, which is spearheading the space agenda of the conference, this marks the end of an odyssey started in 1992 with the launch of the TOPEX/Poseidon oceanography mission that has gathered pace this year through strong commitments and agreements secured with the world’s space agencies to combat climate change.

    The 2016 plenary session of COPUOS, the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, is being held all this week in Vienna, Austria. CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was there to give a speech on efforts engaged in the wake of the COP21 and how the space sector is helping to monitor climate and drive growth.
