    Tuesday 11 December, CNES, hosted the SEA User Workshop on Copernicus Security Services for Member States and the European Union at its head office in Paris Les Halles. The workshop, organized by the European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen), focused on the Copernicus Service in Support to EU External Action (SEA), and was held in partnership with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) and the European Institute for Security Studies (EUISS).

  10. 60th anniversary of Treaty of Rome CNES at the High Level Conference on Space Policy for EU Integration

    Thursday 15 June, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, CNES was at the High Level Conference on Space Policy for EU Integration organized in Rome by the European Commission. The agency’s President Jean-Yves Le Gall took part in the round table on “Space at the Service of European Citizens”.

For this mission of the Copernicus programme, CNES supplied a new-generation DORIS precise orbit-determination instrument and will be playing a key role in disseminating data from this new satellite surveying Earth’s oceans and climate.

    The Copernicus programme is pursuing its deployment. After the launch of Sentinel-1A on 3 April 2014 by Soyuz from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Sentinel-2A, orbited on 23 June 2015 by Vega, also from the CSG, is now operational. For CNES’s Sentinel Product Exploitation Platform (PEPS), this signals the start of a new stream of data for Copernicus users.

    With its unique fleet of six families of dedicated Sentinel satellites and payloads on Eumetsat satellites, Copernicus is set to generate a wealth of very-high-quality data with unequalled spatial and temporal coverage. To meet France’s needs, CNES is offering free access to these data via its Sentinel Product Exploitation Platform (PEPS).
