  1. Ariane 6 to take Europe’s launchers to new heights CNES, ESA and ASL confirm development of new launcher

    The Ariane 6 programme, approved at the ESA Ministerial Council meeting of 2 December 2014, seeks to halve launch costs per kilogram compared to Ariane 5. CNES has responsibility for developing ground support equipment at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) and as such is in charge of building the new ELA4 launch complex for Ariane 6. An amendment to the contract of 12 August 2015 was signed today at ESA headquarters in the presence of Thierry Mandon, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research.

    CNES has awarded to Eclair6, the consortium led by Eiffage, formed by Eiffage Civil Engineering (lead contractor), Eiffage Roads, Clemessy (a subsidiary of the Eiffage Group’s Energy branch), SEH (a German subsidiary of Eiffage Metal), Axima (a subsidiary of Engie) and Italian specialist foundation engineering firm ICOP, the contract for the infrastructures of the future ELA 4 Ariane 6 launch complex at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, for which CNES has responsibility.

  7. Ariane 6 launch table in position at the Guiana Space Centre on ELA4 launch pad

    As the agency overseeing construction of the Ariane 6 launch pad at the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), CNES has selected German firm MT Aerospace based in Augsburg to build the launch table for the vehicle as well as the umbilical mast to support the cryogenic arms.

  20. Boreas undergoing new tests in Germany
