The mission of the Centre National D’Études Spatiales (CNES) – French Space Agency – is to shape the country’s space policy for public authorities and implement it through 2,450 employees spread across four centres of excellence, based in Toulouse, Paris and Kourou in French Guiana.

Want to be part of France’s space adventure? The CNES is recruiting an Engineer specialising in GNSS Algorithms and Data Fusion for Navigation for an 18-month fixed term contract in Toulouse.

The Missions & Navigations Services department carries out engineering studies for satellite navigation systems, on which many human activities are highly dependent. These systems rely on positioning algorithms which require new GNSS data processing strategies.  The use of innovative positioning algorithms is one of the keys to obtaining the level of performance – and reliability – required for different applications. The CNES is keen to strengthen its skills in terms of the analysis and performance of these new concepts. 

Your missions

You will help to specify, develop and test advanced concepts for GNSS measurement processing to improve navigation performance (integrity, robustness, availability etc) for critical applications. Data fusion and multi-sensor hybridization methods are also involved.

You will participate in the evaluation and development of new processes designed to meet the navigation needs of the application world. You will ensure the definition, prototyping, development and qualification of new advanced GNSS algorithms (neural networks, particulate filters, UKF, etc) for precise and accurate positioning.

You will be responsible for the study and evaluation of multi-sensor architectures (GNSS, IMU, odometer, mapping, optical sensors, etc) for navigation.

To carry out experiments, you will collect data in a real environment, for the evaluation of positioning performance (GNSS or multi-sensors).

Desired profile

An Engineering generalist, you have experience in a similar role and know the programming languages Matlab and Python.

Ideally, you specialise in the field of signal processing, automation or Kalman filters. Knowledge of GNSS systems would be a plus.

Your capacity for teamwork, your analytical skills and your ability to integrate complex data are as important as your enthusiasm for achieving success in this role.
